Toolholder expansion

Toolholder Expansion Could be robbing you a productivity and profits

Are you fighting vibration and chatter, run-out, poor tolerances, sub-par finishes, shortened tool life?

If you are, you need to examine your toolholders.

Why? Because a design flaw in V-Flange tooling may likely be the cause of all your problems. If you are fighting the flaw, you are losing money.

The wear pattern is the tell.

If the wear pattern on your toolholders is not consistent from the small end to the gage line, you're fighting toolholder expansion.

A narrow band at the small end and a slightly wider band at the large end indicates that 70-75% of the holder never makes contact with the spindle. Worse, the large end is making intermittent, random contact, like the clapper in a bell. What effect is that having on the tool?

A toolholder that is properly engaged in the spindle can increase carbide tool life by 10-300%

High Torque Rentention Knobs

High Torque Retention Knobs Correct the Flaw.

The high-torque Retention knobs transform V-flange tooling into the most cost-effective, reliable, and precise tooling system available.

When a standard retention knob is installed in a V-flange toolholder, the pressure exerted by thread engagement, coupled with the elastic properties of the steel used to manufacture the toolholders, creates a bulge at the small end of the holder. Once expansion occurs, the holder will not pull all the way into the spindle, and the toolholder cannot make contact with upwards of 70 percent of the spindle surface.

These patented high-torque retention knobs are longer and reach deeper into the holder’s threaded bore than standard knobs. As a result, all thread engagement occurs in a region of the toolholder where there is a thicker cross section of material to resist deformation.

  • Patented design eliminates toolholder expansion
  • Threads are designed to start deeper in the holder
  • Mechanically unnecessary threads have been removed
  • Precision hard turned
  • Made from 9310H or 8620H material
  • Proudly Made in the USA
